- Why did you decide to study in Japan?
- I am from Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China. When I first traveled to Japan, I was fascinated by the Japanese culture, manners, and environment. I decided to go to a Japanese university because the results of my university entrance examinations in China were not favorable.
- How is your college life now?
- I'm a freshman now, and my main focus is still getting used to college life. I am working hard on my daily classes and homework.
- What attracts you to Meiji University?
- Meiji University is a prestigious university with an excellent learning environment in Japan, although its name is not so well known in China yet. Here, I can do research of my choice, and there are many options for university club activities, so I am enjoying a fulfilling university life.
- What are some of the things you have to adapt to in your university life, especially as an international student?
- Human relations are especially important. Unlike language schools, universities are not just for international students, but also for Japanese students of the same generation, so I think it is important to make Japanese friends at university. I believe that the relationships you build will have a positive effect on solidifying the foundation of your university life.
- How did you feel about your own college entrance exam?
- I struggled during the year of preparation for the examination. I was not very good at Japanese at the time, so I practiced listening and reading comprehension in Japanese every day, and when I had time, I listened to NHK news to improve my listening comprehension. After six months, my Japanese improved considerably.
- What are your plans for the future?
- In China, academic background up to graduate school tends to be more important. Since I have come all the way to Japan to study, I would like to continue on to graduate school. After that, I would like to find a job in Japan and experience working in Japan.
