Specified Skilled Workers’ Employment Support Program

This is a special program that aims to help students acquire basic Japanese language skills and pass a skills assessment test, leading to employment in fields where there are active recruitment opportunities.
This program is offered at all ISI Japanese Language Schools.

This is a special program aimed at students who wish to work in Japan and obtain a Specified Skilled Worker visa (type 1).
We support each and every student who is motivated to work in Japan, and by helping them acquire basic Japanese language skills and pass a skills assessment test, we aim to help students find employment in fields where there are active recruitment opportunities.

At ISI Japanese Language School, we provide detailed support regarding jobs in the accommodation and food service industry to improve your Japanese language skills, obtain a Specified Skilled Worker visa type 1, and even find employment.
We also plan to expand our support to the transportation industry and other sectors where a shortage of drivers is an issue.

What is a "Specified Skilled Worker Visa"?

  1. The new residence status established in April 2019 is divided into Specified Skilled Worker Visa type 1 and type 2. This program will help students obtain the Specified Skilled Worker Visa type 1.
  2. In order to qualify for a Specified Skilled Worker Visa type 1, you must pass the Specified Skills Evaluation Test and the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N4 level or higher according to the field chosen.
  3. With a Specified Skilled Worker Visa type 1, it is possible to work full time for 5 years, for the same remuneration as a Japanese national.
*However, the type of industry in which the visa holder can work is limited. Examples: Food service industry, building cleaning industry, food and beverage manufacturing industry, etc.

Classes and learning systems specialized for exam preparation

  • Elective classes allow students to plan and study in order to pass the skills assessment test.
  • You will repeatedly attempt exam preparation questions using LMS* to get used to the test format and type of questions.
  • The career center and its specialized staff will provide you with extensive support to help you pass the exam.
*Learning Management System (Online platform developped by ISI)

I remember one day as I was explaining about the menu, one customer said that my Japanese was as fluent as a Japanese person. The work each day becomes very rewarding, when I receive such comments from the customers.

I was anxious about the interview, and I struggled with the preparation because it is very different from my daily conversation. Still, with help from my teachers, I was able to receive an offer from the company I aimed to work at.
