Ms. Lo Hiu Nam, a graduate of Nagano Campus, is from Hong Kong. After graduating from Nagano Campus, she got a job at a trading company and is now in charge of the Hong Kong market in Tokyo. Ms. Lo shared with us his experience of studying in Japan.

Why did you want to come to Japan to study?
I grew up loving Japanese shonen manga such as "ONE-PIECE" and "Gintama". After graduating from university, I worked at a hotel in Hong Kong for a few years, but I could not give up my love for Japan and chose to come to Japan to study.
Why did you choose Nagano Campus?
I felt that big cities like Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto were no different from Hong Kong, and I wanted to experience a different kind of local city in Japan. Nagano is not a bustling metropolis, but it has its own unique charm.
At Nagano Campus (NBL), we not only have a Japanese language department, but also a vocational school in the same building, so we have many opportunities to interact with Japanese students. This is something that other Japanese language schools do not have.
How was your life at the Nagano Campus?
The teachers at the Nagano Campus are very kind and welcoming. The school is very international, with students from all over the world, including Europe, Asia, and America. ...... You will be able to make friends from all over the world. In Hong Kong, I didn't have many foreign friends, but in Nagano, I feel international, like I am traveling through all cultures, colors and languages.
How did you find your current job?
I often searched for information on job sites for foreigners. The teachers at the Nagano Campus also gave me information about jobs. I ended up working in Tokyo, but the company also has offices in Hong Kong and the US.
How is your social life now?
My current company mainly deals with antique watches and clocks from China, and I am in charge of sales in the Hong Kong market. The company is very international, with about 1/3 foreign employees and 2/3 Japanese employees. There are four of us in the current team, three are from Hong Kong and one is a Japanese who studied in the US. We are not a traditional rigid Japanese company, but a company with a free and international atmosphere. I am from Hong Kong and have already obtained a score of 950 on the TOEIC test, and I have also obtained N1 certification in Japanese at my current company, so I can make use of my language skills here. In the future, I plan to work even harder to do my job well and put down roots in the Japanese workplace as a foreign working adult.
