Mr. Hsu Chih Hao

From Ikebukuro School
Student at Tokyo Animation College
Offer by Actus Corporation

After graduating from Ikebukuro School, Mr. Hsu went on to Tokyo Animation College in Takadanobaba. He is a very dedicated student who is highly regarded by the teachers at the college. Mr. Hsu, who is looking forward to his future career, came to Ikebukuro School to report that he received a job offer from his favorite animation company. We had a chance to ask Mr. Hsu about his memories of Ikebukuro School, his higher education in Japan, and his job hunting activities.

Why did you decide to study in Japan?
I knew I wanted to work for a Japanese animation company.
Why did you decide to enroll in the Ikebukuro School?
It had a good reputation on the Internet and I thought the location was convenient.
What do you think is the best thing about enrolling in ISI?
The teacher's teaching style was easy to understand and interesting, and it has been useful to me even after graduation.
Are there any classes that you enjoyed and found interesting?
All the classes were interesting, so I can't choose one.
Please tell us why you decided to continue your education in Japan after graduating from Ikebukuro School.
I also worked in Taiwan for two years, but it wasn't the dream I wanted, so I wanted to go for my dream while I had the chance.
Do you have any reason or motivation for choosing your current school?
I went to trial classes at various schools and found the environment, teachers, and facilities of Tokyo Animation College to be very good.
Looking back on your preparation for entering a vocational school, was there anything that you worked hard on with your teachers and fellow students?
I think the most difficult part was making the application form and practicing the interview. I am very grateful to my teachers and friends who helped me with the interview practice and helped me pass the exam. The actual interview was not as difficult as I thought it would be.
How is student life at the vocational school?
The teachers at the vocational school spoke very fast and it took me a while to get used to the class, but fortunately I was able to ask the Japanese people in my class what I didn't understand. I can learn the know-how of animation production in the class.
Why did you want to find a job in Japan and why did you choose to work there?
I love anime. I wanted to create animation that would entertain people. I want to help the industry.
Looking back on your job-hunting activities, what were the hardest and best parts?
The most difficult part was the interview. Company interviews and school interviews are completely different. You need to have good manners as well as honorifics. I also spent a lot of time preparing my portfolio and resume. The hardest part was the "motivation for applying for the job" on my resume. Each animation company has a different style and work, so it took me a long time to analyze the company. I am very happy that I received a job offer.
What are your goals and dreams for the future?
I want to become an animation director at a Japanese animation company.
Finally, please give a message to those who are considering enrolling at ISI.
Don't be afraid to fail, and be brave enough to try. You only live once, so be brave and follow your dreams.
