After graduating from college in 2011, I spent 9 years of “Living a sluggish life”. Although not a wealthy family, but I have always been well fed and clothed, in what should be a young man to spend their youth and sweat in their 20s, wasted a lot of time. Like a frog being cooked in warm water, it became numb little by little.
By chance, I started to study Japanese. After a two-week free trip to Japan, I was fascinated by the culture of the country. It was also during this trip that I realized that my Japanese language skills were seriously lacking, and my desire to win was aroused for a long time. The idea of “studying in Japan” was born.

Among the many language schools, I chose ISI Japanese Language School, which has a good reputation and quality of teaching, as the first and most important rason to hava chose this school. The next problem I faced was how to choose among the many schools in the ISI group.

There were three reasons why I turned down ISI Ikebukuro, which was recommended by a study abroad agent, and finally chose “NBL,” or ISI Nagano.

First, the climate in Ueda is very similar to my hometown, which makes me feel comfortable in my daily life. Secondly, although Ueda does not have the bright lights of a big city, it has the quietness and warmth unique to a small city, and people interact with each other with more smiles and sincerity. Thirdly, what attracted me most was that I was able to meet many students and friends from Japan and other countries during my study in NBL, and the daily communication with them helped me a lot to improve my Japanese.

After I came to Japan, I tried to share my study experience with my classmates in my daily study life. In this process, I found that I gained a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction from discussing and solving problems with others.

Life can be so incredible sometimes. I am thankful that I made the right choice at that time, at the age of thirty-three, to get rid of the label of “Living a sluggish life”. I am also thankful for all the teachers and friends I have met since I came to Japan who have helped me. With the encouragement and help from my friends and family, I will continue to move forward and work hard towards my goal.
