Mr. Liki continuously worked hard towards goal of entering graduate school and was successfully accepted by the Hitotsubashi University Graduate School.

Mr. Riki was delighted to have recieved the scholarship and is excited to share his story with you.

Congratulations on being selected for the Nitori International Scholarship. Please tell us how you feel now.

A  I’m very happy now. The Nitori International Scholarship screening was strict, and it is important to get excellent grades above all else. You must also pass an online test.
It is also to clearly define your goals and be ambitious.

Please tell us about your career path after graduation.

A  I will go on to study at Hitotsubashi University. Hitotsubashi University is a very famous university in Japan. Its Graduate School of Economics which has a high academic reputation and offers a variety of research opportunities in a high-quality research environment.
I plan to research issues of inequity in the workplace and public policies to resolve these issues.

What points did you place emphasis on when preparing to enter graduate school? Please let me know about any challenges you had to overcome.

A  I studied materials related to my major, economics, answered questions from past exams, and summarized important points.
I studied Japanese and English thoroughly, and practiced by taking mock interviews.
One of the biggest challenges I overcame was improving my Japanese conversation skills. At first, it was difficult to speak Japanese, but the more I practiced, the better I became.

Q What made you decide to study abroad in Japan?

Since I was a child, I have loved Japanese anime, admired Japanese school life, and wanted to learn more about Japanese language and culture, which is why I decided to study abroad in Japan.

Q What has changed about you through studying in Japan?

I have broadened my perspective.. Through exposure to new cultures and languages, I came to understand the diversity and different values of the world. I was also able to experience personal growth through interactions and experiences with different people.

Q  Please let us know if there are any classes or teachers that left a lasting impression on you at ISI.

A  I was always impressed by classes taught by my homeroom teacher, Mr. Hayashi. He is always kind, serious, and teaches Japanese in a fun way. What’s great is that he sometimes uses manga, songs, and anime to teach Japanese grammar and expressions. Of course, not only Mr. Hayashi, but the other teachers are also wonderful.

Do you have any advice for people who are thinking of studying abroad in Japan.

A   First of all, it is important to consider your goals. Studying abroad is a big challenge, but it is important to be clear about what you want to gain and what you want to learn. It is also important to study Japanese and English properly. Even if there are difficulties, don’t give up until the end, keep a positive attitude and work hard to achieve your goals.

The smile of Mr. Li Riki, filled with excitement for his new life starting in April, left a lasting impression on us. His hard work has paid off. As a scholarship student, we look forward to his continued success in the future.
The staff at ISI staff are looking forward to seeing you again to see how much you have grown.
