ISI participated in the 2nd Global Refugee Forum official event “Welcome Japan Symposium 2023”
“Welcome Japan Symposium 2023” hosted by “Welcome Japan General Incorporated Association” was held online on December 12, 2023, and ISI participated as a speaker after receiving a recommendation from the UNHCR Japan Office.
This event is an official event of the “Global Refugee Forum 2023″ hosted by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), with the aim of uniting voices for refugee inclusion in Japan and countries around the world and moving forward together.
The event is divided into two parts, with the first part being the theme of “The 2nd Global Refugee Forum and initiatives by Japanese actors” and the “Pledge”, which promotes refugee inclusion at the “Global Refugee Forum”. Japanese NGOs/NPOs/companies/government agencies that announced the Declaration) gathered together to share their activities and prospects.
From ISI, Daisuke Toyama, Deputy General Manager of the Japanese Language Education Division, took to the stage and said, “We provide Japanese language education support for refugees in order to support their independence and inclusion in Japanese society.”
In the second part, titled “Initiatives for Refugee Inclusion: From Asia to the World,” dialogues were held with people from various organizations that connect Geneva and other parts of Asia and continue to work to support refugees in Asia.
ISI continues to support refugees by establishing a special scholarship system that provides free Japanese language education to prospective students who are unable to study or find employment in their country of residence due to war or conflict. Through Japanese language learning support, we aim to further promote the independence of refugees and help them realize their dreams and futures in Japanese society.
Based on our corporate philosophy of “contributing to the realization of people’s dreams and the development of international society through the creation of an educational environment for the development of global human resources,” we will continue to actively participate in UNHCR’s efforts.
