【Takadanobaba Campus】Information Sessions for Popular Universities

【Study in Japan for Academic Purposes】Popular Japanese Universities Hold Information Sessions for ISI Students

In July, ISI Japanese Language School held online information sessions by popular Japanese universities for current students. Professors from each university were invited to explain in detail the features of their respective universities, undergraduate and graduate course outlines, campuses and facilities, alumni career paths, entrance examinations and scholarships for international students, and other details.
Taking advantage of the online information session, not only students from the Takadanobaba Campus but also students from ISI Group participated from their own smartphones and classrooms. At the end of the information session, a question-and-answer period was held, where students asked a variety of questions about the necessary preparation for the entrance examinations, specific studies at each university and major, open campus information, and more.

ISI’s strength is our ability to guide students to success at the university or graduate school of their first choice by working closely with each student. Our homeroom teachers and the Career Center at ISI headquarters work together to efficiently and effectively support students in their preparation for entrance examinations.

Meiji University, the “M” in “MARCH,” a difficult-to-enter private university in the Tokyo metropolitan area, is a traditional university founded in 1881 as Meiji Law School, and the first Chinese Prime Minister ( Prime Minister), Zhou Enlai, studied in Japan. All four campuses (Surugadai, Izumi, Ikuta, and Nakano) have excellent accessibility from central Tokyo. The university also provides excellent Japanese language education and international exchange opportunities for international students.
For students from Greater China and Korea, we have our own International Student Association, where they can discuss their concerns and worries with senior students from the same country.

Founded in 1900, Ritsumei University is one of the prestigious private universities in the Kansai region, named after a passage in the Chinese classic “Mencius”. The university is attracting more and more attention each year for its high rate of employment at famous companies and its excellent study abroad program. The university boasts one of the largest collections of books among private universities, and is characterized by its environment conducive to research. The university values diversity and actively accepts international students, and a high percentage of Japanese students are from outside the Kinki region.

Tokyo University of Science

The best private university for science and technology

Founded in 1881, it is the top private university in the field of science and engineering. It is Japan’s premier science and engineering university, offering a wide range of fields including science, engineering, pharmacy, and business administration. The university has a system whereby students are not allowed to advance to the next level unless they pass the required entrance examinations, and it is characterized by its high “educational ability,” “research ability,” and “actual employment rate”. Inheriting the tradition of “meritocracy,” in which students who have truly mastered their abilities are allowed to graduate, the university has produced a succession of excellent human resources as a pioneer in science education. The school has earned a high reputation and the employment rate of their graduates is consistently among the highest in Japan.

Established in 1887 as “Philosophy Hall” by philosopher Enryo Inoue. Since its foundation, the university has aimed at “social education” and “open university” and has been engaged in education, research, and information dissemination for the achievement of SDGs by making the most of its expertise. With approximately 30,000 students, it is one of the largest universities in Japan. A private university headquartered in Kyoto, it is also known as the first university in Japan to establish a Manga Department. One of the leading art universities in Japan, it has five faculties: International Culture, Media Expression, Art, Design, and Manga. Taking advantage of its location in Kyoto, the university offers a curriculum in which students can learn about traditional culture and industry, as well as fieldwork. Students will acquire “the ability to express themselves to change the world” in a well-equipped and free production environment. The university museum, Kyoto International Manga Museum, is also popular worldwide.

Asia University

You will learn a lot from the stimulation of high-level academic friends.

Meiji University is a prestigious university with an excellent learning environment, and I have learned a lot from the stimulation of high-level academic friends. Here, I can do research of my choice, and there are many options for university club activities, so I am enjoying a fulfilling university life. I think it is important to make Japanese friends at the university because, unlike a language school, at a university you study not only with other international students but also with Japanese students of the same generation.

In an international environment, I interacted with students from many different countries and improved my communication skills.

At the university, students study sociology, which allows them to learn about contemporary social issues from a trans-genre perspective, including the environment, cities, media, and culture. At the university, there are many opportunities for students to interact with each other outside of lectures. I believe that I was able to improve my communication skills by making friends from various countries as well as Chinese students in an international environment. It is also a valuable opportunity for me to learn what I am lacking in my own life as I interact with others. The university offers plenty of fieldwork and lectures, qualifications and job placement support, and I plan to fully enjoy my four years of university life here.

Students can choose classes from other faculties and study a wide range of subjects.

I am currently studying basic courses related to economics. Even in regular classes, there are classes taught not only by professors of Toyo University but also by professors who teach at other universities such as the University of Tokyo, the University of Tsukuba, and Sophia University, allowing students to be exposed to a wide range of knowledge. In addition, students can choose classes across faculties, and I have chosen to take classes in social thought in the philosophy and literature departments. The university also offers English classes. Learning English in Japanese is challenging, but at the same time, I see it as a chance to improve both my English and Japanese, and I intend to do my best.

The campus has an artistic atmosphere. You can feel art naturally in a quiet environment.

I have been interested in magic tricks since childhood and I am currently in graduate school studying films about witchcraft. Mainly, I will study two films by Nolan, “Memento” and “The Prestige,” from a psychoanalytic point of view. Kyoto Seika University is a well-known art university in the Kansai area. Its quiet environment and attractive campus with an artistic atmosphere allow students to feel art in a natural way. The university provides funds for students to hold exhibitions, making it a wonderful environment for art-minded students. I am currently expanding my network of contacts in the field of magic, including exchanges with a Chinese magician in Japan.
