【Ikebukuro Campus】Speech Contest in 2022

We held our annual speech contest again this year at Ikebukuro!

Until last year, the event was partially held online due to the spread of the coronavirus, but this year it was grandly held in the auditorium on the first floor of the school building. It was a wonderful event where students were able to demonstrate the results of their Japanese language studies through their speeches, which were filled with their thoughts and feelings.

In this speech contest, 10 students from intermediate to advanced classes presented their speeches.
Speeches were given on themes related to the content of classes and their own dreams, such as “Dreams,” “Acceptance,” “Even if it is an unrewarded dream,” and “A word from the teacher,” as well as on “What is soup?” and “Friendship born at Higashi-Nagasaki Station,” and “What I realized from my parents’ trip.” The theme of the speech contest was “diversity,” comparing the cultures of Japan and their home countries.

Students also listen intently to the content of the speeches.

The content of the speeches, delivered from the students’ point of view, provided a time of new “awareness” for those who listened to them.
As a result of the judging, one Grand Prize winner and two Excellence Award winners were selected, and when their names were called out, the venue was filled with warmth and cheers from the students themselves and their classmates who supported them. The four winners of the poster design contest also participated in the award ceremony.

Thanks to everyone who presented in the speech contest, volunteered to facilitate the contest, and entered the poster design contest!

Through school events, students can deepen their relationships with their classmates and also discover many new things about Japan and the Japanese language. Ikebukuro Campus plans to hold many more events for students to enjoy and participate in.
